The School Education Department (SED) has appointed a nodal officer to oversee implementation of the Supreme Court’s recent judgment concerning candidates included in Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) select panels, according to an official order issued on Monday.

Under Secretary Thannaji Bhat has been designated as the nodal officer responsible for monitoring, coordination, and supervision of all matters arising from the Supreme Court’s April 30 judgment in J&K and Others versus Saba Wani and connected cases.

The court directed authorities to consider candidates included in duly constituted ReT select panels for engagement or appointment against available vacancies, subject to compliance with qualification, Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), regularisation, and seniority requirements.

Implementation of the judgment requires scrutiny of extensive records, including recruitment advertisements, select lists, vacancy positions and service-related documentation spread across multiple districts.

Officials said the appointment was intended to facilitate coordination between education directorates, legal authorities, and administrative departments involved in executing the court’s directions.

The nodal officer will also oversee the creation of a consolidated database covering all cases affected by the judgment and monitor verification of educational qualifications, TET status and vacancy details.

The government has directed all departments and subordinate offices to extend full cooperation in furnishing records required for compliance.
