Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday directed security agencies and district administrations to ensure communal harmony and maintain law and order in Kashmir, while calling for intensified action against militant networks and their support structures.

Chairing a high-level security and administrative review meeting with Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police, and other officials, Sinha reviewed the security situation across Kashmir division and discussed operational preparedness.

He called for sustained action against militant modules, stronger counter-infiltration measures and closer coordination among district administrations, Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army and Central Armed Police Forces.

The LG also directed officials to monitor what he described as anti-national elements within the administration and prioritise measures to counter radicalisation.

He called for monthly reviews of action involving properties linked to narco-terrorists and networks supporting militancy.

Sinha also directed agencies to continue operations against drug smugglers and peddlers as part of efforts to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.

Emphasising the need to address public grievances, he said coordination between citizens, police and the administration was essential for maintaining public confidence.

“Under no circumstances should communal harmony and the law and order situation be allowed to deteriorate,” Sinha said.

He called for the establishment of district-level social media cells to respond quickly to misinformation and prevent its spread.

The meeting also reviewed preparations for the winter season, with the lieutenant governor directing officials to ensure adequate stocks of essential commodities and effective snow-clearance arrangements.
