Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) Dinesh Chand Deshwal inspected the Katra-Srinagar section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) on Friday, reviewing infrastructure and safety arrangements ahead of the start of passenger services.
Deshwal was accompanied by Jammu Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer and other senior railway officials during the inspection from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Srinagar.
Officials examined the railway line, tunnels, bridges and stations, as well as signalling, passenger amenities, emergency response systems and other safety arrangements, Northern Railway Public Relations Inspector Raghvender Singh said.
Deshwal expressed satisfaction with the construction and safety standards on the section, Singh said, while directing officials to give priority to passenger safety and comfort.
Kumar said the railway administration would act on the recommendations made during the inspection and remove identified deficiencies within the stipulated timeframe.
“The railway administration will take the suggestions given by the CRS seriously,” Kumar said, adding that the administration remained committed to beginning passenger services after completing the required work.
Senior officials of the Jammu Railway Division, project officers and technical personnel also took part in the inspection.
