Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday invited global investors and technology companies to expand partnerships with India, positioning the country as a leading destination for innovation, research and advanced manufacturing.
Speaking at the launch of Bharat Innovates 2026 alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, Modi said India sought deeper cooperation based on co-development, joint research and long-term industrial collaboration.
“We want partnership. We want co-development. We want joint research. We want shared manufacturing,” Modi said.
He said India and France shared a relationship driven by common values and a shared vision for addressing global challenges, citing cooperation in clean energy, artificial intelligence governance, climate action and security.
Modi also highlighted reforms undertaken by India in the nuclear energy sector, saying they would create new opportunities in advanced reactor technology, scientific research and clean energy production.
The comments come as New Delhi and Paris seek to expand cooperation in civil nuclear energy, including discussions on next-generation reactor technologies.
The prime minister said India had emerged as the world’s third-largest start-up ecosystem, with more than 200,000 start-ups operating across sectors ranging from artificial intelligence and biotechnology to defence and space technology.
“Until a decade ago, the world saw India as a technology adopter. Today, India is emerging as a technology provider,” Modi said.
His visit to France comes amid growing strategic cooperation between the two countries in defence, aerospace, cybersecurity, climate policy and innovation.
