New Delhi, June 13
India’s Home Ministry has empanelled six senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, three from the J&K segment of AGMUT cadre, for appointment to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP).
The officers cleared for empanelment are Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Satish Shriramaji Khandare, Tsewang Namgyal Kalon, David Lalrinsanga and Rajesh Khandare, according to official information.
Jamwal, Yadav, and Kalon belong to the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir segment of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre.
Yadav, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has served in several senior positions in Jammu and Kashmir, including Inspector General of Police, Jammu, and Deputy Inspector General in north Kashmir. He has also held leadership roles in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The empanelment enables the officers to be considered for DGP-level appointments across Union Territories and organisations under the AGMUT cadre.
The decision recognises their experience in policing, administration and security operations, including counter-insurgency assignments.
Officials said the empanelment highlighted the contribution of officers from Jammu and Kashmir who have served in key operational and leadership roles both in the region and on central deputation.
