Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday directed officials to expedite pending infrastructure works and ensure their completion ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra.
Sinha conducted an on-site inspection of construction works and pilgrim facilities at the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board Yatri Niwas at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar, officials said.
During the visit, LG Sinha reviewed arrangements being made for pilgrims and instructed officials to accelerate the pace of work before the pilgrimage begins.
He also reviewed preparations for a sound and light show dedicated to Baba Barfani, a revered name used for the Amarnath cave shrine.
The LG was accompanied by Mandeep K Bhandari, chief executive officer of the shrine board; Mukesh Garg, a member of the board; Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajiv Pandey; Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar G V Sundeep Chakravarthy; and Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Akshay Labroo.
