The cabinet expansion failed to maintain regional, religious, and cultural balance, opposition leader Sunil Sharma said on Tuesday.
Sharma, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and the Leader of Opposition (LOP) in the Legislative Assembly, congratulated the four newly inducted ministers but said a government must represent all regions and sections of society.
“Religious, regional and cultural balance has to be maintained. Today, that was not seen,” he told reporters.
Sharma declined to comment immediately on the removal of minister Satish Sharma, saying it was too early to assess the decision.
He described reported discontent within the ruling National Conference as an internal party matter.
About his earlier suggestion that the NC would split on the day of the cabinet expansion, Sharma urged patience, saying only a short time had passed since the oath-taking ceremony.
