The Srinagar-Jammu highway was open for two-way traffic on Saturday, with authorities allowing movement of both Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles in both directions, subject to weather and road conditions.
Traffic officials said the route is expected to remain open on Sunday if conditions remain stable.
Commuters and transporters have been advised to check the latest updates with traffic control units before travelling, as conditions can change quickly.
Vehicular movement remained slow on several stretches, particularly between Ramban and Banihal, where ongoing road construction and narrow sections have created bottlenecks.
Officials said congestion was worsened by vehicle breakdowns and the movement of nomadic herders with livestock along parts of the highway.
The route had faced disruptions earlier in the week due to landslides and adverse weather, though traffic has since resumed in both directions.
Authorities advised travellers to undertake journeys during daytime and avoid night travel due to risks such as landslides and falling rocks, especially along vulnerable stretches.
