Around 250 patients received consultations and diagnostic services at a pulmonology camp organised at the University of Kashmir on Wednesday, organisers said.

The camp was held by the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Chest Physicians in collaboration with Paras Health Srinagar, with a focus on improving access to respiratory care and raising awareness about chest-related diseases.

Specialist doctors examined patients for conditions including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung infections and allergies, officials said.

Diagnostic services such as chest X-rays, pulmonary function tests and routine laboratory investigations were provided on site, while free medicines were distributed to patients requiring immediate treatment and follow-up care.

Respiratory therapists also demonstrated proper inhaler techniques and educated patients on long-term disease management.

Organisers said the initiative drew strong public participation and highlighted the need for community-based healthcare programmes to expand access to specialised services.

Support staff assisted with patient monitoring and clinical coordination, while a clinical psychologist provided counselling to address mental health aspects linked to respiratory illnesses.

The association said it would continue to organise such outreach programmes to promote early diagnosis and improve access to pulmonary care across the region.
