Nearly 2000 people received free medical consultations and diagnostic services at a health camp organised by Kashmir Medical College and Hospital (KMCH) at District Hospital Pulwama on Wednesday, officials said.
The camp, part of KMCH’s community outreach programme, offered consultations across multiple specialties, along with free medicines and diagnostic services including ultrasound, organisers said.
Faculty members and specialist doctors from the institution examined patients and provided treatment during the day-long event.
KMCH Managing Director Tausif Ahmad said the initiative aimed to improve access to healthcare, particularly for people facing financial or logistical barriers.
“Our goal is to ensure that no patient is deprived of quality healthcare due to distance or financial constraints,” he said, adding that similar programmes would be expanded to other areas.
Principal and Dean Prof Nazir Ahmad Khan said strong public participation in earlier camps had encouraged the institution to continue such initiatives.
He said that KMCH, a private medical college in the region, is working to make its full range of super-speciality services operational this year.
Organisers said the camp was aimed at strengthening community-level healthcare delivery and improving access to essential medical services.
