Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati will be sworn in as Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court on Wednesday, with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena set to administer the oath.
The ceremony will be held at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) in Srinagar.
Saxena was given additional charge of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday during the leave of incumbent LG Manoj Sinha.
The Supreme Court Collegium recommended Bhati’s elevation as chief justice on August 31. The central government subsequently cleared his appointment, and President Droupadi Murmu notified it.
Bhati, born on September 21, 1970, completed his BA, LLB, and LLM in Mercantile Law and enrolled as an advocate in 1992.
He practised before the Rajasthan High Court before joining the bench.
He also served as Additional Advocate General of Rajasthan during two periods, including from January 2014 until his elevation to the bench.
