NHPC has asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to speed up approvals for land required for the Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower project and nominate an agency to conduct a Social Impact Assessment for the Sawalkote project, the state-run power company said.
NHPC Director (Projects) Sanjay Kumar Singh raised the issues during a meeting with J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo in Srinagar on September 3.
Singh briefed the chief secretary on the status of NHPC projects in J&K and sought intervention to resolve issues affecting their implementation.
He requested faster approval for private, state and forest land required for the Dulhasti Stage-II Hydroelectric Power Project and sought early nomination of an accredited agency for the Sawalkote project’s SIA studies.
Singh later met senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Shailendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Power Development Department) Ashwani Kumar and Principal Secretary (Revenue) Kumar Rajeev Ranjan to discuss issues affecting NHPC’s under-construction projects and existing power stations in J&K.
NHPC officials accompanying Singh included Executive Director (Region-Jammu) Anish Gouraha, Sawalkote project head Satnam Singh, and Dulhasti Stage-II project head Shiv Nath Kumar, along with G S S H Vara Prasad.
The officials assured NHPC of necessary support and timely action to facilitate implementation of its projects, the company said.
