Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday extended greetings to people on Vijayadashami and Dussehra, which will be celebrated on Tuesday.
In his message, LG Sinha said Vijayadashami symbolised the triumph of good over evil, truth over falsehood and righteousness over wrongdoing.
He said the life of lord Ram offered enduring lessons in virtuous conduct and expressed hope that the festival, along with Durga Puja, would bring peace, happiness and prosperity.
CM Omar also greeted people on Maha Navami and Dussehra, saying the festivals reflected the values of truth, righteousness and the victory of good over evil.
He expressed hope that the occasions would strengthen communal harmony and brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir.
The CM urged people to draw inspiration from the festivals and reaffirm their commitment to mutual respect, unity and peaceful coexistence.
