Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged the Haryana government to take stringent action after unidentified people allegedly attacked a bus travelling from Delhi to Srinagar, injuring an elderly passenger.

The chief minister’s office said on Sunday it had conveyed its concerns to the Haryana government over the incident and the safety of passengers.

The office said the Haryana administration had assured it that it would take prompt action in accordance with the law.

The bus, carrying about 40 passengers, was reportedly attacked near Kurukshetra, where assailants allegedly pelted it with stones and bricks, according to the Jammu and Kashmir government.

“This unfortunate incident should never have taken place,” Abdullah said in a post on X, urging Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the state police to identify those responsible and prevent similar incidents.

The Jammu and Kashmir government said it was monitoring the situation and stood with the affected passengers.
