Haryana Police have detained two men and seized a car after an altercation involving a Jammu and Kashmir-registered bus in Karnal district left a passenger injured and several windows damaged, Haryana Police said on Sunday.
Police received information about the incident at around 10 p.m. on October 17 near the Divine Star Hotel, within the jurisdiction of Butana police station.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajeev Kumar said officers who reached the scene found that the confrontation had begun over a parking dispute between the bus driver and two local men travelling in a car.
The men, identified as Mohit and Sawan, allegedly assaulted a passenger and smashed the bus windows with bricks, Kumar said.
Police asked the injured passenger and other occupants to file a formal complaint, but they declined, allowing the bus to continue its journey, Kumar said.
An initial information report was subsequently registered after police received a written complaint from the owner of a local eatery, he said.
The bus driver separately alleged that one of the men had objected to the vehicle being parked at the location and used an offensive remark about its Jammu and Kashmir registration.
He also alleged that the men assaulted him, damaged the front windshield and removed the rear number plate.
Police said they had found no other criminal offences linked to the incident.
