Raises employment, environment issues

Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday and discussed a range of issues related to public welfare, social harmony, employment, environmental conservation and development in J&K.
Farooqi, accompanied by his advisor Danish Reshi, stressed the need for collective efforts to strengthen peace, communal harmony and social cohesion across Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement.
During the meeting, the Grand Mufti highlighted the role of religious and community institutions in promoting mutual trust, discouraging extremism and fostering moral values to support social stability.
The discussions also covered youth unemployment, developmental challenges, law and order issues and environmental concerns, including the protection of Dal Lake and other water bodies facing encroachment.
Farooqi called for sustained conservation measures to safeguard the region’s ecological heritage and urged authorities to strengthen anti-polythene campaigns through greater public participation.
He said environmental protection was essential for sustainable development and public well-being.
A significant part of the meeting focused on the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley.
The Grand Mufti said the community’s return should take place in an atmosphere of security, mutual respect and confidence, in keeping with Kashmir’s tradition of coexistence and communal harmony.
LG Sinha appreciated the suggestions presented during the meeting and reiterated the administration’s commitment to addressing public concerns, accelerating development initiatives, creating employment opportunities and maintaining peace in the region.
The LG also assured cooperation on matters related to public welfare, environmental conservation and social development.
Both sides expressed optimism that continued engagement between community leaders and the administration would contribute to peace, inclusive development and the preservation of Kashmir’s tradition of harmony and coexistence.
