Delhi Public School (DPS) Srinagar on Saturday celebrated its 23rd Founders’ Day with cultural performances, academic honours and tributes to the institution’s founder during a function held at the school’s indoor stadium.
The event commemorated the legacy of founder Durga Prasad Dhar and highlighted the school’s achievements in academics, sports and inclusive education, school officials said.
The programme began with a traditional welcome ceremony and prayers, followed by tributes to Dhar and reflections on the school’s development as one of Kashmir’s prominent educational institutions.
Students staged a series of cultural performances during the event, including musical presentations, traditional Kashmiri dances and theatrical performances based on regional history and folklore.
Students from the school’s Learning Resource Centre, which caters to specially-abled children, performed a hula hoop dance as part of the celebrations, reflecting the institution’s emphasis on inclusive education.
The school also honoured students for achievements in academics and sports, including recipients of the Kiran Dhar Sports Scholarship and students who scored above 95% in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Grade 10 examinations.
Two visually impaired students from the Learning Resource Centre were felicitated for passing the CBSE examinations with distinction, officials said.
Staff members who completed 20 years of service at the institution were also honoured during the event.
Addressing the gathering, DPS Srinagar Chairman Vijay Dhar said the school was founded with the objective of creating educational opportunities for young people in Kashmir.
