Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhury on Tuesday dismissed speculation of resentment within the ruling National Conference (NC) after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expanded his cabinet, saying disagreements over appointments were normal.

“There is no resentment. There is nothing unusual about this. It is normal,” Chaudhury told reporters.

He said critics had repeatedly asked why the cabinet expansion was delayed and were now raising questions because some legislators had not been accommodated.

The addition of four ministers would help distribute the workload, he said, urging critics to give the government time to deliver.

Chaudhury compared political disagreements to differences within families and said they should not be turned into a public spectacle.

He also questioned the BJP’s criticism of the expansion and said other parties should face similar scrutiny over their own decisions.
