A UNICEF India delegation met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday to discuss cooperation on child-focused development, the government said.
The delegation included UNICEF India Deputy Representative Jesper Moller, Child Protection Specialist Sharmila Ray and J&K Outpost Coordinator Hilal Ahmad Bhat.
Discussions covered child protection, prevention of violence and exploitation, juvenile justice, family-based care, adolescent welfare and strengthening services for vulnerable children, the government said.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to expand UNICEF-supported programmes across Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah separately met a delegation of the Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), led by its J&K chapter chairman Mir Anwar.
The delegation briefed him on tourism initiatives, including a proposed “Train to Valley” familiarisation tour scheduled for September 25-28.
A delegation from Business Network International (BNI) Jammu Kashmir, led by executive directors Raghav Gupta and Dimpi Gupta, also met the chief minister to discuss the organisation’s initiatives.
Abdullah also met representatives of TEDx NIT Srinagar, who briefed him on an event scheduled to be held in Srinagar this month.
