Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure chaired a crime and operations review meeting on Wednesday, assessing ongoing investigations and the law and order situation in the south Kashmir district.
The meeting at the District Police Office in Anantnag was attended by ASP North Camp Ashmuqam Rameez Raja, all sub-divisional police officers, station house officers and police post in-charges.
Nagpure reviewed registered cases, investigation progress, pending cases, preventive measures and the overall security situation, police said.
He directed officers to ensure timely and professional investigations, closely monitor pending cases and follow established procedures.
Particular attention was given to cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, with the SSP directing officers to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards drug trafficking and peddling.
Officers were instructed to identify and take action against drug suppliers, peddlers and repeat offenders and to complete investigations and legal proceedings promptly.
Police were also directed to trace financial networks and properties linked to drug trafficking wherever applicable.
Nagpure called for stronger preventive policing and prompt action against criminal and anti-social elements, while directing officers to strengthen beat policing and address public grievances.
He also stressed accountability and vigilance among officers and called for a proactive approach to maintaining peace, security and public order across Anantnag district.
