Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Thursday inaugurated a laparoscopy machine and a digital X-ray unit at the Sub-District Hospital in Charar-e-Sharief, saying the new facilities would strengthen healthcare services in the area.

Rather said the installation of the equipment would improve access to diagnostic and surgical care for residents of Charar-e-Sharief and adjoining areas, reducing the need for patients to travel to larger hospitals for treatment.

He said upgrading healthcare infrastructure remained a priority for the government, which was working to equip public health institutions with modern medical technology and improve service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Speaker said the laparoscopy machine would facilitate minimally invasive surgical procedures, while the digital X-ray system would enhance the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities.

He urged doctors and paramedical staff to ensure optimum utilisation and proper maintenance of the newly installed equipment so that patients could derive maximum benefit from the upgraded facilities.

Rather also commended the Health Department and hospital administration for strengthening healthcare infrastructure at the hospital.
