Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor paid a visit on Monday to a clinic once run by Union Minister Jitendra Singh in Jammu, highlighting a cordial relationship between political leaders from rival parties.

Tharoor, who chairs Parliament’s Standing Committee on External Affairs, is leading a delegation visiting Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The Congress leader visited a building in Jammu’s Gandhi Nagar area where Singh, a physician before entering politics, practised medicine for about two decades.

Singh later shared details of the visit on social media, recalling that he had treated relatives of Tharoor’s late wife, Sunanda Pushkar.

Tharoor responded by thanking Singh and describing the visit as a reminder that many lawmakers had professional careers before entering politics.

Speaking to reporters, Tharoor said the stop was a personal visit linked to his friendship with Singh.

The parliamentary panel is reviewing issues related to external affairs and passport services during its visit to the region.
