People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims to focus on rebuilding ties and strengthening communal harmony, saying the future should take precedence over past divisions.
Mufti visited the Kheer Bhawani shrine in Tulmulla during the annual festival and interacted with devotees.
“I am happy to see so many Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters here,” she told reporters.
She praised members of the Kashmiri Pandit community, including medical professionals who continue to serve patients in Kashmir, saying their efforts helped bridge social divides.
Mufti also called on authorities to address issues faced by displaced Kashmiri Pandits, including housing and welfare concerns.
She said stronger direct engagement between communities would contribute to reconciliation and trust-building.
In a social media post later, Mufti described scenes from the festival as heartwarming and said the event demonstrated the enduring bonds between Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims.
