Police seize 3 tractors in Shopian

Police in south Kashmir’s Shopian district have seized three tractors allegedly involved in illegal mining and registered two cases, officials said on Saturday.

Two tractors were seized in Heerpora after police intercepted them while they were transporting minerals without valid royalty documents, police said.

A case was registered at Heerpora police station and an investigation launched.

In a separate operation, police seized another tractor in Berthipora for allegedly extracting and transporting minerals without the required permission. A case was registered at Keller police station.

Police said operations against illegal mining would continue and warned of legal action against violators.
