People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed-ur-Rehman Para accused Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference and opposition BJP on Monday of wasting assembly time through repeated political clashes.
“The BJP is accusing the NC and the NC is accusing the BJP. In this, people’s precious time is being wasted,” Para told reporters after the House was adjourned.
He said the seven-day session should instead focus on unemployment and grievances of youth, employees, MBBS and agricultural university interns, National Health Mission workers and daily wagers.
Para also demanded that the government make public the report of a committee examining reservation policy, saying a promised six-month timeline had stretched to two years.
“We want the Chief Minister, the government, and the Cabinet to open and make the sub-committee report on reservation public,” he said.
He called for a review of the reservation system and said merit should be considered alongside population-based representation in recruitment and other opportunities.
Para also raised concerns about police verification, passports, admissions and employment faced by young people.
He urged political parties to use the assembly to address such issues rather than allow proceedings to be dominated by disruptions.
