National Conference (NC) lawmaker Tanvir Sadiq criticised BJP legislators on Monday for disrupting the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, saying the protest prevented lawmakers from addressing issues affecting their own constituencies.
Sadiq said BJP members had 11 questions listed for the day covering issues such as electricity, drinking water and roads but chose not to participate in the question-and-answer proceedings.
“If they wanted answers, they would have got them. The government was ready,” Sadiq told reporters outside the assembly.
He said the chief minister, deputy chief minister and other ministers were present to respond.
Sadiq accused the BJP of using the disruption to attract media attention rather than seeking answers on the floor of the House.
The NC spokesman urged opposition lawmakers to use the seven-day session to raise public concerns and seek government responses.
He also criticised a reported eviction notice affecting around 20 business establishments in Srinagar, saying the issue required dialogue because traders had invested their savings in the properties.
The matter is also before the court, he said.
