Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma reviewed troop preparedness and security arrangements in north Kashmir during visits over the weekend and on Monday, the Army’s Northern Command said.
Sharma visited Rashtriya Rifles units deployed in the region on Sunday and interacted with commanders and soldiers. He stressed constant vigilance, coordination among units and engagement in the hinterland to maintain an advantage over security threats, according to posts by the command on X.
He commended the troops for their professionalism and commitment to the Army’s stated objective of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
On Monday, Sharma, accompanied by Lieutenant General Balbir Singh, the General Officer Commanding of the Srinagar-based 15 Corps, reviewed the preparedness of units deployed in forward areas.
He praised their operational capabilities and stressed sustained readiness, rigorous training, innovation and the use of technology to strengthen performance.
The review took place ahead of winter, when harsh weather and difficult terrain can complicate troop movement, logistics and surveillance.
North Kashmir includes sensitive areas along the Line of Control in Baramulla and Kupwara districts and remains an important part of the Army’s border security and counter-insurgency deployments.
The Northern Command said the visits formed part of routine assessments of operational readiness and security arrangements in Jammu and Kashmir.
