Srinagar, Aug 1
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly opposition leader Sunil Sharma condemned the killing of two migrant workers in Kulgam and said those responsible would be brought to justice.
Sharma, a senior BJP leader, made the remarks after meeting the families of the victims, who were from Chhattisgarh and had come to Kashmir to work as labourers.
He described the killings as an attack on humanity and said the victims had been targeted despite having no connection with the conflict.
Sharma said one victim was survived by a young child and the other by his wife, and urged the Chhattisgarh government to assist the bereaved families.
He blamed Pakistan-sponsored militancy for the attack and said those responsible, as well as those who supported or sheltered them, would be brought to justice.
The two workers were shot at close range in Kilam village on Friday. One died at the scene and the other succumbed to his injuries at a Srinagar hospital on Saturday.
Security forces have launched a search operation to track down the attackers.
Senior civil and police officials attended the meeting.
