Jammu and Kashmir will have 1750 MBBS seats across 11 medical colleges for the 2026-27 academic session under the latest National Medical Commission seat matrix.
The revised matrix, updated by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board on September 18, adds 75 seats to the earlier figure issued in July.
Government medical colleges account for 1,600 seats across 10 institutions, while private medical college ASCOMS Jammu has 150 seats.
Of the government seats, 1425 are renewed seats, and 175 are increased seats. No new private-sector seats were approved.
Nationally, the revised matrix lists 1,40,664 MBBS seats across 839 medical colleges, compared with 1,40,214 seats earlier.
The NMC said the updated matrix incorporates approvals for new colleges and revised intake capacities.
It directed colleges to verify their entries before counselling and told counselling authorities to admit students only against seats approved and notified by MARB.
