The weather department has forecast brief but potentially intense spells of rain across the Jammu region on August 16 and 17, days after issuing an orange alert warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.
The warning for August 13 and 14 covers the possibility of landslides, shooting stones and flash floods at vulnerable locations.
The Meteorological Department said intense, localised downpours and isolated cloudbursts could not be ruled out, particularly in higher reaches and other vulnerable areas.
Poonch recorded 53 mm of rainfall and Rajouri 44 mm during the previous 24 hours, while many other parts of the region received light to moderate showers.
From August 15, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at many places, with brief intense spells possible during early morning, morning and late afternoon or evening periods.
Between August 16 and 19, the department expects scattered heavy or brief intense showers in some districts. It warned that torrential rain could trigger flash floods, landslides and mudslides.
Scattered light rain and thunderstorms are expected from August 20 to 22.
Temperatures in Jammu are expected to remain between 31 and 35 degrees Celsius amid hot and humid conditions.
Meanwhile, rescuers recovered the body of one of two men who drowned in the Chenab River in the Akhnoor area three days earlier.
Officials identified the victim as 30-year-old Gajay Singh, from Khour, whose body was recovered near Hamirpur Siddhad village close to the Line of Control.
Search operations continued for 35-year-old Rakesh Singh, who was also from Khour.
The two men had gone to bathe in the river on Sunday. Police recovered their motorcycle, mobile phones and clothes from the riverbank.
