India will emerge as a global guide, or ‘Vishwaguru,’ and there should be no doubt about its future, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Friday.
Speaking at an event in Nagpur after laying the foundation stone of a temple project at the National Cancer Institute campus, Bhagwat said India’s rise would be driven by collective discipline and sustained effort.
“Don’t doubt India’s future. India will be strong and will guide the world,” he said, adding that just as the construction of the Ram temple became a reality despite scepticism, India’s emergence as a global leader was inevitable.
Bhagwat said the transformation could be witnessed within the present generation if people adhered to values such as self-reliance and cultural rootedness.
He urged citizens to reconnect with what he described as India’s civilisational ethos, rather than viewing the country through a Western or colonial framework.
“To understand India, we must first understand Bharat and live it in our daily lives,” Bhagwat said, calling for changes in language, lifestyle and cultural practices.
He said the idea of a “Bharat Mata” temple in Nagpur had been conceived by late ideologue Moropant Pingle, and described the planned “Bharat Durga Shakti Sthal” as a symbol of strength and knowledge.
The RSS chief said that while India’s philosophy emphasises truth, global dynamics often reward power, adding that strength was necessary for values to prevail.
Several religious leaders attended the event along with senior politicians, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Fadnavis said the initiative would inspire national consciousness, while Gadkari described the ceremony as a step toward nation-building.
Religious leaders at the event echoed calls for cultural unity and societal transformation, with some also highlighting broader ideological goals related to India’s future trajectory
