Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to outline the government’s priorities for the next six months, as the civil secretariat resumed functioning in Srinagar following the Darbar Move.

The meeting, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, ministers, and senior officials, marked the first full return of administrative offices to the summer capital in several years.

Calling the transition a “significant milestone”, Abdullah said the administration had prepared in advance for the move and emphasised the importance of the upcoming six months for delivering on development commitments.

“This is the most productive period of the year. Now it is our responsibility to execute and meet the expectations of the people,” he said, urging coordination between elected representatives and the bureaucracy.

He said the period coincides with key events such as the annual Amarnath Yatra and the peak tourist season, requiring coordinated administrative efforts beyond security arrangements.

Senior officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo and advisor Nasir Aslam Wani attended the meeting, along with administrative secretaries and police officers.

Abdullah said the government now had a clear roadmap following the recent budget session and called for timely execution of projects, efficient use of resources and minimising lapses in fund utilisation.

Chief Secretary Dulloo briefed the meeting on administrative preparedness, including arrangements for employees relocating under the Darbar Move and ensuring continuity of services in both Jammu and Srinagar through a roster system.

He also highlighted priorities such as flood preparedness ahead of the monsoon, restoration of infrastructure, and ensuring electricity and water supply across J&K.

Officials were asked to expedite implementation of cabinet decisions, advance digitisation of land records, and prepare for the upcoming Census process scheduled to begin with self-enumeration later this month.

The administration aims to maintain coordinated governance and service delivery during the six-month period in Srinagar, officials said.
