Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday directed officials to accelerate implementation of key budget announcements for 2026–27, stressing timely delivery of welfare measures and improved coordination across departments.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the civil secretariat in Srinagar, Abdullah reviewed progress on budget proposals and called for strict adherence to timelines, officials said.

Departments reviewed included general administration, planning and development, power, school education, agriculture, public works, finance, housing and urban development, among others.
Abdullah emphasised the need to translate budget commitments into “tangible outcomes on the ground,” with a focus on efficiency, transparency and public welfare. He also called for equitable development across regions through balanced allocation of funds and resources.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to governance and development, the chief minister instructed departments to closely monitor progress and remove bottlenecks to ensure benefits reach people without delay.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, ministers including Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana, Javid Dar and Satish Sharma, along with senior officials and administrative secretaries.
