A delegation from Bank of Baroda led by Executive Director Beena Vaheed on Sunday met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar to discuss plans for expanding the bank’s operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, the delegation presented its strategy to strengthen the bank’s presence in Srinagar and other regions, with a focus on expanding banking outreach and increasing financial inclusion.
Omar Abdullah welcomed the proposal and assured the delegation of government support, saying the administration would facilitate efforts to widen the banking network in the Union Territory.
He said the expansion could support economic growth in key sectors such as agriculture, handicrafts, handloom and tourism, while also generating employment opportunities for local youth.
Bank of Baroda officials said the expansion plan is aimed at improving access to formal banking services and deepening financial penetration in underserved areas of the region.
