Authorities advise motorists to follow official traffic advisories

Srinagar, June 14
Traffic congestion persisted for a second consecutive day on the strategic Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Sunday after two trucks developed mechanical faults in the Ramban-Banihal sector, officials said.
The disruption led to long queues of vehicles and delays for commuters and freight transporters travelling on the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country.
Traffic officials said personnel were deployed throughout the day to regulate vehicular movement and clear the backlog.
Senior officers monitored the situation as efforts continued to restore normal traffic flow, they said.
Authorities advised motorists to follow official traffic advisories and cooperate with personnel managing traffic on the highway.
The Srinagar-Jammu highway frequently experiences disruptions due to landslides, accidents, vehicle breakdowns and adverse weather conditions, affecting the movement of passengers and essential supplies to the Kashmir Valley.
