An Indian national died from medical complications aboard a vessel docked at Duqm Port in Oman, the Indian Embassy in Muscat said on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Nishanth Uirthanathan, a crew member aboard the vessel MT Celestial, the embassy said in a statement posted on X.
“Indian national Mr Nishanth Uirthanathan passed away due to medical complications,” the mission said.
The embassy said his remains were currently on board the vessel and that it was coordinating with relevant authorities regarding subsequent formalities.
No further details about the illness or circumstances leading to his death were immediately available.
Indian diplomatic missions in the Gulf regularly assist Indian seafarers and their families in cases involving medical emergencies, accidents and repatriation procedures.
