The Jammu and Kashmir administration has extended the implementation period of two central financial assistance schemes benefiting displaced families from PoK, Chhamb, and West Pakistani Refugees after receiving approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), officials said on Thursday.
According to orders issued by the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction, the deadline for the one-time settlement scheme for displaced families from PoK (1947) and Chhamb (1965 and 1971) has been extended by six months, from March 31, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2026.
Officials said the scheme would continue within its approved outlay of Rs 2,000 crore and would not be extended beyond the revised deadline.
In a separate order, the government said the Ministry of Home Affairs had approved an extension of the financial assistance scheme for West Pakistani Refugee families settled in Jammu and Kashmir.
The deadline for that programme has been extended by one year, from March 31, 2026, to March 31, 2027, under its approved outlay of Rs 317.02 crore.
Authorities said the scheme would cease after March 31, 2027, and would not be extended beyond the designated sunset date.
The extensions are intended to allow eligible beneficiaries additional time to avail themselves of financial assistance under the centrally funded rehabilitation programmes.
