Doon School Srinagar was honoured with the Best School Award at a Zee Media conclave held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre, organisers said.

The award was presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in recognition of the school’s performance across a range of educational parameters.

The honour was received by the institution’s chairman Showkat Khan, vice chairman Sayan Khan and principal A Kamili.

According to organisers, the school was recognised for academic performance, co-curricular achievements, infrastructure and its contribution to quality education in Kashmir.

The institution has previously hosted several prominent personalities, including former Sri Lanka cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya, Australian cricket coach Dav Whatmore and Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor.

School officials said students have participated in debates, sports competitions and extracurricular activities at regional and national levels, earning recognition for the institution.

The management said Doon School Srinagar operates only from its Srinagar campus and has no branch elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir.

Parents, students, educationists and residents of Srinagar congratulated the school’s management and staff on receiving the award.
