Security forces stepped up vigilance across the Pir Panjal region on Tuesday, marking the first anniversary of the Pahalgam attack in which 26 civilians were killed, with authorities placing the area on high alert.
Officials said enhanced surveillance and increased area domination measures were implemented to prevent any untoward incidents, particularly in sensitive locations.
In the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, security personnel intensified patrolling, carried out area sanitisation drives and deployed forces strategically along key routes.
Multiple checkpoints were set up on busy roads and at public places, with teams conducting detailed checks of vehicles and individuals, officials said.
Dozens of cordon and search operations were launched across the region during the day, with dense forest areas prioritised, they added.
Authorities said regular patrols and search operations were continuing to maintain vigilance and reassure public safety, reiterating that all necessary measures were in place to ensure peace and security across Jammu and Kashmir.
