Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan on Saturday reviewed security and operational preparedness along the Line of Control in north Kashmir, officials said.

Chauhan visited forward areas under the Army’s Chinar Corps, where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation and operational posture along the de facto border with Pakistan.

A defense spokesperson said the CDS commended troops for their preparedness and professionalism in maintaining vigilance in the sensitive region.

During his visit to Baramulla, Chauhan was also briefed on future force requirements and the integration of advanced technologies into military operations.

Addressing officers, he said the nature of warfare is rapidly evolving and called for a shift toward multi-domain operations, emphasising coordination across land, air, maritime, cyber and space domains.

He stressed the importance of jointness among the armed forces, urging enhanced joint training, harmonised doctrines and interoperable command structures to ensure coordinated responses to emerging threats.

Chauhan also highlighted the need for technological adaptation and collective preparedness, saying future challenges require a unified and forward-looking approach to defense planning.

He urged personnel to maintain high levels of operational readiness and resilience amid evolving security dynamics.

Later, the CDS interacted with civil administration officials and local representatives in Baramulla, where he also reviewed ongoing efforts related to development and governance, the spokesperson said.
