May 20 is the last date for students to apply for the Punjab Para Medical Entrance Test (PPMET) for admission to BSc Nursing courses for the 2026-27 academic session.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences has invited online applications for the entrance examination.

Principal of Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, near Chandigarh, Nidhi Chopra said interested candidates could register online through the university’s official website until Wednesday.

She said the PPMET entrance examination would be conducted on May 31 at various centres across Punjab.

Chopra said Aryans Institute was also offering free coaching classes for students preparing for the examination.

Students awaiting their Class 12 examination results are also eligible to apply for the admission process, she added.

A help desk has also been established at the institute campus to assist students with admission-related queries and submission of application forms.

Punjab has around 17,450 to 18,000 nursing seats across undergraduate degree and diploma programmes, including nearly 5,000 BSc Nursing seats, 11,386 General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) seats and 5,672 Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) seats.

Of the BSc Nursing seats, around 300 to 800 are available in government colleges, while the remaining seats are in private institutions. Admissions are conducted through the PPMET examination.

For GNM courses, there are 440 government seats across nine colleges and 10,946 seats in private institutes, while ANM courses include around 200 government seats and 5,472 seats in private institutions.

Nearly 15,000 applicants had applied last year for around 7,000 nursing seats in Punjab, reflecting strong demand for nursing admissions in the state.
