Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Faz Lul Haseeb on Wednesday inspected the shopping complex at Regal Chowk and directed officials to upgrade civic facilities and address concerns raised by traders.

During the visit, Haseeb reviewed infrastructure and sanitation facilities at the commercial complex and held discussions with members of the local traders’ association.

Officials said several grievances raised by traders were resolved on the spot, while directions were issued to relevant departments for time-bound action on pending issues.

One of the main concerns highlighted during the interaction was the need to expand and upgrade the existing public lavatory block to accommodate increasing footfall in the busy commercial area.

The commissioner directed the Joint Commissioner (Works) to begin immediate measures for the extension of the facility and ensure early execution of the project.

Haseeb also instructed engineering and civic departments to prepare a broader redevelopment plan for the Regal Chowk shopping complex, focusing on sanitation, public infrastructure and improved civic amenities for traders and visitors.

As part of the inspection, the commissioner reviewed the functioning of the Executive Engineer offices of the City Drainage Civil Division and Right River Works Division, stressing the need for efficient drainage management and timely execution of development projects.

He said the Srinagar Municipal Corporation remained committed to improving civic services through field inspections, stakeholder engagement and prompt grievance redressal.
