The State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Tuesday attached immovable property belonging to an alleged operative of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) in connection with a narco-terror investigation in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The action relates to FIR No 03/2023 registered by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force and later transferred to the SIA Kashmir after investigators uncovered alleged links to terror financing and cross-border narcotics networks.

According to an official statement, investigations revealed that Zameer Ahmad Lone of Mandiyan Keran in Kupwara district currently operating from across the Line of Control (LoC), was allegedly involved in narco-terror activities linked to the militant outfit.

Authorities said Lone had previously been declared a proclaimed offender by a competent court after allegedly evading arrest and continuing anti-national activities from across the border.

Following an application filed by the SIA, a court ordered the attachment of property belonging to the accused after examining the evidence presented by investigators.

Acting on the court order, SIA Kashmir attached immovable property measuring 1 kanal and 14.37 marlas under Khasra No 113 in Mandiyan Keran, Kupwara district.

Officials said the attachment was carried out by a specialised SIA team in the presence of an executive magistrate and local revenue officials.

The agency said it had earlier filed a charge sheet in the case after uncovering evidence related to alleged narcotics smuggling, terror financing and cross-border militant links.

The SIA said the action reflected its efforts to dismantle networks involved in terrorism financing and narco-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said that the investigation formed part of broader efforts under India’s anti-drug campaign to curb narcotics trafficking and its alleged links to militancy in the region.
