Police in Jammu and Kashmir intensified preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra on Wednesday, with senior officers reviewing security and administrative arrangements to ensure the safe movement of thousands of pilgrims expected to visit the Himalayan cave shrine.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure chaired a meeting of zonal and sector officers assigned to Amarnath Yatra duties, focusing on operational planning and coordination along the pilgrimage route.
Police said officers were briefed on their responsibilities and instructed to maintain constant vigilance and strictly adhere to standard operating procedures throughout the pilgrimage.
Nagpure directed officers to coordinate closely with civil administration agencies and other stakeholders, maintain effective supervision within their jurisdictions, and remain prepared to respond quickly to any emergency.
He also emphasised proactive policing, efficient communication, crowd management, and assistance to yatris while maintaining a robust security grid.
Police said officers had been instructed to conduct regular field inspections, maintain round-the-clock alertness, and promptly report any security-related developments during the pilgrimage.
The meeting concluded with a review of deployment plans and a reaffirmation of the police’s commitment to providing comprehensive security and facilitating the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
