Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across 20 Indian states under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, expanding the government’s programme to modernise the country’s rail infrastructure through upgraded passenger facilities and heritage-inspired station designs.

The stations, redeveloped at a combined cost of about Rs 1.57 billion, feature improved passenger amenities, enhanced accessibility and upgraded infrastructure while incorporating architectural elements reflecting local culture and regional identity, according to the government.

The inauguration marks the second nationwide rollout of redeveloped stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. In May last year, Modi dedicated 103 modernised railway stations across 18 states and union territories as part of the broader initiative to upgrade railway infrastructure and improve the passenger travel experience across India’s vast rail network.
