The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Army Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, visited formations and units in north Kashmir to assess operational preparedness, officials said.
Lt Gen Sharma reviewed the readiness of troops during his visit to hinterland areas, where he was briefed on the prevailing security situation.
Discussions during the visit focused on coordination among security agencies and measures to maintain stability in the region, officials said.
The Northern Army Commander commended personnel for their efforts in maintaining security and preventing militant activity, and emphasized continued vigilance to ensure peace in the area.
