Srinagar, April 10
Security forces in south Kashmir recovered and defused an improvised explosive device, averting a potential attack, officials said Wednesday.
The device, weighing about 14.5 kg, was found during a joint operation by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Chitragam area of Zainapora in Shopian.
Officials said the explosive, packed with high-grade material and fitted with a remote trigger mechanism, was safely neutralised through a controlled operation at the site.
They said that the timely recovery helped prevent a major incident in the area.
The Army said it remains committed to countering militant threats and maintaining security in the region.
