Member of Parliament Sheikh Abdul Rashid arrived in Srinagar on Thursday after being granted interim bail by a court in New Delhi and proceeded to a local hospital to visit his ailing father, officials said.
Rashid, who represents Baramulla in the Lok Sabha, travelled from Delhi following a one-week interim bail granted by the Delhi High Court earlier this week.
The court allowed him to either visit the hospital where his father is undergoing treatment or remain at home during the bail period.
It also directed that two plainclothes police personnel accompany him at all times and restricted access to immediate family members.
After landing at Srinagar airport, Rashid went to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital to meet his father, officials said.
Rashid has been in custody since 2019 after being arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a 2017 case related to alleged funding of separatist and militant groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
He won the Baramulla parliamentary seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, defeating Omar Abdullah.
