Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday ordered security agencies to intensify area domination and maintain sustained pressure on terror networks during a high-level review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha called for greater coordination among security agencies and a proactive approach to counter-terrorism, law and order and other emerging threats.
The meeting reviewed anti-terror operations, drug smuggling, narco-terror networks and challenges emerging in the cyber and social media space.
Sinha directed officials to strengthen area domination operations and maintain operational pressure against terror networks.
He also ordered intensified action against narco-terror networks and greater monitoring of emerging digital threats.
The LG praised J&K Police and other security agencies for action against drug smugglers and called for further efforts against networks involved in narco-terrorism.
He also directed police to strengthen direct engagement with the public, including by designating specific hours for citizens to raise grievances.
Reviewing police station functioning, Sinha stressed that complaints should be handled transparently and impartially and that investigations should be conducted professionally.
“The police must maintain a strong and continuous engagement with the public,” he said, adding that genuine grievances should be handled sensitively and investigations with fairness and transparency.
Sinha also ordered closer monitoring of social media platforms to counter what he described as anti-national propaganda, misinformation and online blackmailing.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti briefed the meeting on the overall security situation.
Senior police and civil administration officials from Kashmir and Jammu also provided updates on anti-terror operations, law and order, drug smuggling and other security challenges.
The LG directed agencies to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure close coordination in efforts to safeguard peace and maintain law and order across J&K.
