Jammu, April 29
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday called for stronger coordination among security agencies and intensified action to dismantle militancy networks, officials said.
Chairing a high-level meeting with senior civil and police officials from the Jammu division, LG Sinha directed authorities to reinforce the security grid through “360-degree” coordinated operations to counter evolving threats.
He stressed the need for seamless cooperation between police, civil administration and security forces, and reiterated a policy of zero tolerance towards those supporting militancy, including overground workers, according to an official statement.
District Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) briefed the meeting on the prevailing law and order situation, as well as preparations for upcoming pilgrimages, including the annual Amarnath Yatra.
The meeting also reviewed progress under the government’s anti-drug campaign, with Sinha calling for stricter action against narcotics networks and the identification of trafficking corridors in the region.
He urged officials to adopt a “whole-of-society” approach to tackle substance abuse and directed studies on regional trends using international methodologies.
The review comes ahead of the annual “Darbar Move”, under which government offices shift from Jammu to Srinagar for the summer session. Offices operating on a five-day week will close in Jammu on April 30, while others will shut on May 2 and reopen in Srinagar on May 4.
LG Sinha also instructed officials to ensure regular grievance redressal mechanisms at the local level and to expedite development programmes, including rural health screening initiatives.
Authorities were asked to conduct comprehensive security and logistical reviews in view of the upcoming pilgrimage season, the statement said.
